Steps
In order for students to have a sound knowledge of their civilization they must have researched the following elements of their ancient civilization:
- Politics - What form of government was in power at the time. Find similarities and differences between New Zealands Nation lead government.
- Agriculture - How did your civilization create it's own food supply. Cover fruit, veg, dairy, trade items such as wool, tea etc Did they have well balanced diets?
- Conservation - Look into modern day environmental ideas and how they could have benefited your ancient civilization. eg did they care about how many tree's they chopped down, recycling, re-using water etc... What was the climate like in your region during this time?
- Defence - How did your civilization protect itself from invaders, natural disasters, weather conditions etc..
- Education - How were youth educated in your ancient civilization. What similarities and differences are there to today's education?
- Finance - What forms of currency were used? Was this global or nationally implemented? What incoming and outgoing expenses might a government have to worry about?
- Foreign Affairs - How did your civilization interact with other civilizations??
- Health Care - What was the health system like. What costs were involved?
- Internal Affairs - What problems did your society have?
- Justice - What were some of the common crimes in your civilizations and how were they punished
- Architecture - In what style were the buildings of this error created. How were the government buildings different to the civilian's houses. Were there any notable landmarks in your ancient civilization ie Egypt = The pyramids.
